The whole route leads through almost entirely pathless areas in the outback, accessible merely in 4WD cars. The expedition has the following presumption: wherever possible, use unpaved roads. Indeed, Strzelecki never used motorways, he crossed the virgin areas on his own foot..
The route goes through all places connected by their name with Strzelecki's name (Strzelecki town, Strzelecki Range, Strzelecki Track, Strzelecki Desert, Strzelecki Regional Reserve, Strzelecki Hwy, Strzelecki N.P., Strzelecki Peaks). In addition, the route includes the famous tracks of the outback: Goldfields Heritage Trail, Gunbarrel Hwy, Oodnadatta Track, Strzelecki Track.

To complement the whole undertaking we plan to explore areas around other Strzelcki's expeditions: northern, western and northern part of southern expedition; anywhere in reach of daily escapades from Jindabyne.
The icing on the cake of the expedition will be a flight from Melbourne to Flinders Islands with a visit to Strzelecki N.P and climbing Strzelecki Peaks.
